QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Before we get started.
A closer look at supplier sourcing, 3PL and warehouse searches, project scope, and what to expect.
Are you based in the United States?
Yes. Checkmate Sourcing is based in Knoxville, Tennessee. You work with a US-based contact while we manage supplier outreach, clarification, and follow-up within your agreed scope. We provide clear updates in English; specialist translation or local inspections are separately scoped when needed.
Can you help find a 3PL or warehouse?
Yes. We research third-party logistics (3PL), fulfillment, storage, and warehouse-space options against an agreed brief. We can contact candidates, compare available quotes, and introduce you to providers. You select and contract directly with the provider.
What information do you need for a warehouse search?
Share your target locations, product type, number of SKUs, pallet count or approximate square footage, monthly order volume, handling requirements, integrations, budget, and start date. Estimates are fine for an initial discussion.
Do you operate warehouses or negotiate property leases?
No. We provide research and coordination. We do not operate facilities, hold your inventory, broker freight, or act as a real-estate broker. For space you plan to lease, a property representative or licensed broker handles tours and lease negotiation as appropriate.
How do you compare fulfillment costs?
We organize the fees providers disclose, including receiving, storage, pick-and-pack, packaging, returns, onboarding, account minimums, and shipping assumptions. Any scenario estimate depends on your order profile and the provider confirming its rates and capacity.
What does Checkmate Sourcing do?
We provide supplier research, outreach, quote comparison, sample coordination, and 3PL and warehouse sourcing. Each engagement has an agreed scope based on your product or operating needs.
Can you find the manufacturer of a specific product?
We can investigate potential manufacturing relationships and relevant alternatives. Available information may not identify the original factory conclusively. We explain the evidence and its limitations rather than promise an exact match.
Do I need finished drawings?
Not always. A product description, reference image, material, approximate dimensions, and expected quantity can be enough for initial research. Custom production quotes may require more detailed specifications.
Can you source internationally?
We can scope research into domestic or international suppliers around your preferred regions. Feasibility depends on the product, order size, supplier response, and any applicable restrictions.
Do you sell products or hold inventory?
Our primary service is research and coordination. Unless a separate agreement states otherwise, you contract with and pay the supplier or logistics provider directly.
How are projects priced?
We quote the sourcing work after reviewing your product or logistics brief, research depth, provider outreach, and support needed. The scope explains deliverables, timing, and fees before you commit. Supplier purchases and third-party services are separate.
Are suppliers guaranteed or certified by Checkmate?
No. Research, supplier-provided documents, sample approval, factory audits, and product certification are different levels of evidence. We describe the checks included in your scope. Independent testing or inspections can be discussed separately.
What happens if no suitable supplier is found?
We document the research and the barriers, such as minimum order sizes, technical requirements, or unavailable responses. The engagement covers agreed work rather than a guaranteed sourcing outcome.
Will you handle shipping and customs?
We can coordinate questions with your chosen logistics providers. Customs entry, tariff classification, and regulatory advice should be handled by qualified professionals. Responsibilities are agreed before any purchase.
Can I share confidential specifications?
Start with a nonconfidential overview. If the project needs an NDA or restricted handling, tell us before sending sensitive drawings or proprietary information. Supplier disclosures should be approved as part of the engagement.
